Netscape Navigator

Netscape Navigator is a popular web browser in the era of the 1990s and most widely used before the emergence of Internet Explorer from Microsoft, made by Netscape Corporation. At the time, Netscape is used by many users because it's better than a few graphical web browsers other then. Netscape is available in 16-bit Windows platforms (Win16), Windows 32-bit (Win32), UNIX, and Macintosh. Netscape Navigator is a browser built from the base source code of the Mosaic Web Browser from the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA), because the maker NCSA (Marc Andressen) is the founder of Netscape Corporation. In addition to available in the form of Netscape Navigator, Netscape also issued a suite of Internet, known as Netscape Communicator, which combines the Navigator, e-mail client, web page editor, and other applications.

In 1999, Netscape Corporation, acquired by America Online (AOL), and the Gecko project that is being created by Netscape was made open source code (open source) after Netscape founded the Mozilla.org project. So it can be concluded that Netscape Navigator is a web browser that is the idea for the Mozilla Firefox browser.

End support for Netscape
After years of internal circles of AOL trying to revive Netscape Navigator, they ultimately do not succeed do so because of Netscape's market share was defeated by Microsoft Internet Explorer. Support for Netscape was eventually limited only by a handful of engineers who make an add-on skin (skin Mounting additional software) for Mozilla Firefox. In addition, AOL has shifted its business focus to web-based advertising. AOL's focus on business and the success of the Mozilla Firefox browser, making AOL feels it's time to end support for Netscape Navigator.AOL to stop support for Netscape Navigator on March 1, 2008 and then hand over the reins fully to Mozilla Foundation's Netscape.
